Good grief - I'd not realized how badly the performance of the old one had deteriorated, and has even become suspicious of nerve damage from overuse as the culprit - just wasn't getting good cursor control. The new mouse is sharply better, tracks more accurately, and is much easier to fine adjust. Am convinced the problems were simply the product of an aging sensor in the mouse. Obvious suggestion is to monitor the performance of your laser mouse, and replace at the first sign of reduced response.

(Several years later)
I've finally worn one out. It was a real trouper, and was busy for more hours than most - the matte plastic key surfaces are worn shiny. I use its scroll wheel with detents (a button controls them), and to my surprise, they still function perfectly after scrolling around through what I'm sure are hundreds of thousands of web pages and countless Emails. It owes me nothing. Today , I ordered its replacement. I'd not have any other.
I've a large but sensitive hand (ring size 11 - big ol' long fat fingers on a large palm), and prefer this mouse for its remarkable but easily controlled sensitivity, accuracy, utter reliability, and beautiful ergonomics (very unusual - it allows as close to natural & relaxed hand & finger positioning as I've ever seen.)
In my hand, at least, it's small enough that I can manage an inch or two of lateral travel just with finger movement, and travel the entire height of the 24" monitor likewise. My second, just now in service for the office tower, was for my traveling laptop, and not used as much. On the other hand, it's been banged around across the U.S., most of Europe, and China, and just keeps motoring along.
I like that I can adjust its speed, and also its precision response (via software through Control Panel). The "enhanced precision" setting slows it down at end of travel to allow for fine work such as with graphics. I prefer not to use it for everyday work, as the slowdown is a little disconcerting, although a great help for graphics work. That versatility is a nice plus. Naturally, I leave the miniature receivers permanently in place for both computers.
Can't say enough good about this mouse.

Original Review:
I replaced a pair of MX Revolutions with these - they're GREAT, and their miniaturized receiver relieves clumsiness for laptop application. Recommend strongly.
I use this all day every day. It says my battery power is good and I have 888 days of use remaining on the current batteries.
We will see how long they really last.
**************
April 2011 I first used a 705 mouse with a new keyboard and loved it.
It plugs right in and works.
I purchased this one to use with my laptop. I use a PC all day long for work and some of the repetitive motions were causing pain. The mouse features reduce the wear and tear on my hand.
It has a very ergonomic shape that is easy to hold
1) The flying scroll wheel.
I move around big spreadsheets and the free wheeling scroll wheel is great. You just have t flick it and it keeps scrolling. Much less push push push of the scroll wheel. It does have a button to go back to the click scroll where you have to push it for each increment.
2) It does the left and right scroll simply by pushing the scroll wheel to the left or right, which is also great in that it lets me scroll left or right without having to go to the keyboard arrows or keep lifting and moving the mouse to move left or right.
3) I also like the two buttons on the left where the thumb can go fwd or back a page in the browser.
4) Also on the thumb it has a button at the bottom that I programed for Alt Tab. Now I just have to push my thumb to alt tab between screens. I was doing this on the keyboard and my thumb was getting very sore from holding down the Alt key.
BTW with the Logitech utility all the buttons are programmable.
It has an on off switch if you won't be using it for a while and the tiny USB receiver fits in a slot in the base of the mouse for storage.
I give this a 9 of 10. It would get a 10 if it had a lighter weight LiIon battery.

No need to worry about the batteries. And works perfectly without any setup on Windows and Linux (Ubuntu).
It comes with 2batteries, I don’t play game, so not sure if it’s good enough for gaming. But otherwise, it’s a great one for working and studying with a very good price.

This mouse is great because of it's size and shape. It is full sized and ergonomically shaped. There are plenty of buttons to configure. The roller wheel has two settings and moves nicely.
I took one star off because it's a little noisy when you click click. Otherwise it's very nice.
